Coming up in the next few months are some quality XSI courses right here in India. Also starting soon is an India|XSI usergroup which would be the first of it kind.

Softimage Co. (a subsidiary of Avid Technology, Inc.) has announced the appointment of Real Image as an authorised reseller of Softimage products in India. With this appointment Real Image is now authorised to sell the entire Softimage product line , including SOFTIMAGE®|XSI® version 4.0,which is its latest release.

A company release quotes Patrick Greene, European Business Manager for Softimage at Avid saying, "As a well respected company in India's digital entertainment market, Real Image is ideally placed to provide expert advice and support to Softimage customers in India. We look forward to working closely with them to drive this growing market."

Real Image recently added to its arsenal of skilled product specialists with the appointment of well-respected 3-D specialist Siddharth Bolurker.

On being asked by Animation 'xpress as to how will Real Image acquiring the reseller business for Softimage affect the sales, Siddharth replied, "Real Image is highly regarded in the film and video industries in India by their presence as an AVID authorised reseller. A lot of that existing client base would be getting into 3D animation/compositing/effects, thereby allowing Softimage|XSI to enjoy a much greater reach in India. Also we are looking to be a value added reseller, wherein we shall evaluate each cutomers needs individually and provide them with the best support possible to get their productions up and running."

On Real Image's plans around increasing client awareness Siddharth pointed out that, "Increasing the XSI userbase is top priority for us at Softimage and Real Image. We are looking to take this forward with the creation of an India|XSI usergroup (the first of its kind), through which we will be hold monthly usergroup meeting across various cities in India. The Sofimage usergoup meeting`s will be having free monthly training seminars on Softimage|XSI, we will also be inviting industry XSI experts as guest speakers at these usergroup meetings thereby allowing anyone who wants to learn XSI be a part of this experience and gain valuable tips from the experts. Also the industry should look forward to some quality XSI courses starting soon in India."
