MUMBAI: WPP Group has appointed Torrence Boone as the CEO of project Da Vinci, a new global agency set up to service Dell. He will join the project next month.

Boone was a former executive at Publicis-owned Digitas Boone. He will report directly to WPP chief executive Sir Martin Sorrell, and will be based in New York.

WPP won the $2.2 billion Dell global advertising account in December last year after a pitch against Interpublic Group.

Project Da Vinci has been set up to merge Dell's worldwide marketing services, advertising, media planning and buying and direct marketing, into one agency.

Prior to joining Digitas in 2001, Boone was vice president and general manager for the interactive agency Avenue A.
