Ficci launches Limca Book of Records in Hindi

MUMBAI: Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Ficci) and Coca-Cola India have launched the first Hindi edition of Limca Book of Records. The Hindi edition comes along with the launch of the 2008 Limca Book of Records.

With 2008 being the year of the Olympics, the latest edition of the record book includes a special 21 page chapter on Indian Olympians too.

Ficci chairman sports committee and Coca-Cola India president and CEO Atul Singh said, “With 2008 being the year of the Olympics, the book catalogues ‘India at Her Best’ by recognising Indian Olympians who have made their country proud. To take this spirit far and wide, we are also extremely proud to launch the Hindi edition of the record book. Our plan is to further popularise the record book by translating it into other regional languages starting with Malayalam.”

The 19th edition of the Limca Book of Records incorporates achievements across 17 “buzzing” fields like medical Science, radio, television, transport, communications, literature, cinema etc showcasing records made and broken by Indians. The book also showcases the contributions of corporates like Ashok Leyland, Malayala Manorama, Airtel and Association of Rural Surgeons (ARSI) in its ‘Doing India Proud’ section.

Limca Book of Records senior editor Arthy Muthanna Singh said, “Limca Book of Records, now in its 19th successful year, is a tribute to Indian achievers from across the globe. The book truly catalogues India at her best and provides us with the opportunity to acknowledge and applaud these inspiring efforts. The book features over 10,000 achievements out of which 6,000 are new records from all corners of the country, with claims that never cease to amaze us. We are gratified with the popularity and the appreciation that the book has got for its determined effort in unveiling the incomparable talent of the people of India.”
