Google India appoints biz heads to augment ad revenue

MUMBAI: With an aim to boost advertising revenue in India, Google has made three major appointments.

While Google India has roped in Sridhar Seshadri as business head financial services, Parminder Singh and Narasimha Jayakumar has been appointed as business head technology and business head travel and local respectively.

The appointment of three senior business executives is part of Google India's strategy to go deep in these key sectors to deliver significant and measurable growth for customers leveraging the AdWords platform. Industry teams led by these newly appointed leaders will focus on providing counsel to customers regarding their digital, marketing and advertising strategies.

Seshadri, business head financial services, will be responsible for the generation of advertising business from the financial services segment. Also, his team will focus on serving key clients in the banking, insurance, and mutual funds sectors.

Singh, business head technology, will lead a team that drives Google's advertising operations in the technology and telecommunications space in India.

Jayakumar will concentrate on growing Goggle's space in the travel and local space as business head travel and local.

Seshadri has worked with ICICI Bank across a number of divisions and functions. His responsibilities at ICICI spanned from advertising and marketing to product development and branch banking. Prior to joining Google, he was in the rural, agricultural and micro-banking division of ICICI Bank.

Singh has over 14 years of cross-functional experience in strategy and brand marketing with focus in the technology and telecommunication sector. He was the country head of marketing for Apple and most recently Head of Marketing for IBM's Hardware division.

Jayakumar brings with him a decade's' experience across multiple industries, having worked with companies such as Expedia Inc, Cendant Corporation, Tata Consultancy Services and IBM India. He ran the B2B client portfolio for the distribution business of Expedia Europe based out of London.
