MUMBAI: Day one at the Promax/BDA India 2008 ended with ex Channel [V] head honcho and Rowdy Rascal founder Amar Deb giving a snapshot of the world's best TV promos made last year.

Ranging from various genres across channels, the promos are of different languages.

Earlier in the "How to Work Better" session, BDA Sydney creative director Jens Hertzum presented 10 easy steps for the promo producers, designers and marketers.

The 10 steps were demonstrated based on global network of copywriting, branding, shooting and design experience. The presentation provided an insight on turning unfavourable conditions to a favourable one.

Hertzum presented the case study of rebranding of UK-based channel Sky One along with few other promos and ads from the industry.

In the another session, UK based broadcaster Five’s promo producer Anna Boswell explained the art of packaging a promo of a single programme for different channels.

Showcasing some of the promos of Prison Break, a thriller series which was telecast on UKTV, Sky One, Fox and Five, Boswell explained how music, background score and visuals were used to differentiate the promo for all the four channels.

The promo for Fox was made a little provocative while for Sky One it was subtle.

“It's important to realise that along with the programme you are also promoting the channel. The entire design of the promo has to be equivalent to the channel’s brand image,” said Boswel.
