TNS study identifies top Indian brands

MUMBAI: Market insight company TNS, in collaboration with Media, a media, marketing and advertising publication, has released the ‘Asia Pacific’s Top 1000 Brands’ survey for 2008.

According to the survey, Sony, Nokia, Hewlett Packard and ICICI are among the brands that most people called as best in their respective categories. Following as second to these are Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Dell and SBI respectively.

Commenting on the findings, TNS India executive director Shobha Subramanian said, “Reaching and retaining the ‘best brand’ popularity, as revealed in the ‘Top 1,000 brands’ study, demonstrate their success in building awareness and differentiation in a challenging and competitive category. This goes beyond mere market or sales share into the realm of consumer share of mind. Brands such as Sony, Nokia, ICICI and HP are in the forefront not just in India but across various markets in this region.”

In total, 3,600 people were interviewed for the survey across 10 countries including Japan, Korea and Australia. These, together with respondents from China, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand, were drawn from TNS’ sixth dimension online access panels.
