Barco -- an international company involved in imaging technology
and headquartered in Kortrijk, Belgium -- has been awarded a major
order of seven million Euro by Indra, Spain, for the supply of ISIS
LCD main displays, Tower Control Displays and graphics controllers.
Indra will integrate the ISIS main displays and graphics boards
into the ATC operator workstations of Spain's new en-route center
in Gavá, Barcelona.
A number of these ISIS displays will also be integrated into various
international projects. The delivery of the Tower Control Display
units is part of a modernization project for the tower control centers
in Bilbao, Barcelona, Madrid and Tenerife.
According to a company release, Barco's ISIS 2K x 2K, 28-inch square
flat panel LCD main display has been chosen by Indra for its high-performance
image quality, its low life-cycle cost and because it is fully compatible
with the de-facto ATC standard 20" x 20" square format.
Moreover, Barco claims, the four megapixel ISIS display can be
integrated into both new and existing Controller Working Positions.
The LCD tower control displays have a high brightness output and
wide dimming range, which allow an optimal setting, both in day
and night environments. This display guarantees optimum readability
at all times. Deliveries are expected to start in the course of
this year with final shipments to be delivered by April 2004.
