ESS airs 6-series show on Electrolux Awards

ESPN-Star Sports has begun airing a series of six curtain raisers to herald the Electrolux Wisden International Awards to be held on October 30 in Mumbai.

The shows will look back on the performances of all international teams over the past year which included the World Cup, the Ashes, India's tour to New Zealand and South Africa's series versus England.

The series will host star cricketers like Rahul Dravid, Steve Waugh and Ricky Ponting. Other cricketing greats like former England captain Michael Atherton, former West Indies fast bowler Ian Bishop and former Zimbabwe fast bowler Henry Olonga will also be hosted by Channel-4's Mark Nicholas.

There will also be exclusive interviews with Australian Test Captain Steve Waugh and One-Day captain Ricky Ponting. The duo will offer rare insight into the reasons for Australia's phenomenal success as well as take a look at the plans being put in place to maintain their pre-eminence on the world stage. The first in this series was aired on Star Sports yesterday.

The series will end on October 22 with a look at India's year in international cricket through exclusive interviews with captain Sourav Ganguly and coach John Wright.

The Electrolux Wisden International Awards will consider players' performances between September 1, 2002 and August 31, 2003. Among the awards to be given away are Wisden Test Batting, Performance of the Year, Wisden Test Bowling Performance of the Year, Wisden ODI performance of the Year, Wisden Young Cricketer of the Year, Electrolux International Cricketer of the Year & Electrolux Indian Cricketer of the Year (People's choice).
