This month CNNs show Mainsail travels to Malaysia.
Host Liz George visits the annual Raja Muda Regatta race, which
stops at four of Malaysias top tourist spots including Penang
and Langkawi. The show airs on 19 December at 6 pm with a repeat
on 22 December at 7 pm and on 2 January 2005 at 6 pm.
The half-hour show begins with George interviewing Prince Abdullah
of Malaysia, who talks about his vision for the future of yachting
in the region. As founder of the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club, the
Prince has been the driving force in developing this sport on the
island, hoping it rivals against the Caribbean and the Mediterranean.
At the Regatta, Mainsail profiles top boat owner Hong Kong billionaire
Frank Pong and features his multi-million dollar new yacht Maiden
Hong Kong. After years of hard work on building the yacht in Malaysia,
Pong hopes his new sailboat is one of the fastest ever built to
break records.
Meanwhile CNN's talk show Talk Asia brings viewers up close
and personal with the founder and chairman of the Virgin Group Sir
Richard Branson. Hosted from India, the show finds out how Sir Branson
has achieved what most young professionals could only dream of -
wealth and fame. The show airs on 11 December at 7 pm with repeats
on 12 December at 5 pm and 8:30 pm and on 13 December at 9 am.
He said, Ive never thought of myself as a businessman.
I was never interested in going into business. What Ive always
wanted to do was to create things that I can be proud of."
As one of Britains wealthiest entrepreneurs, Branson talks
about how he continues to develop his wide-ranging businesses from
magazines to music and airplanes to telecommunication companies.
When asked about his secret to success, he states, The important
thing is to do the best in anything you do, throw yourself 100 per
cent into it. If its successful, you can move onto the next
thing. If it doesnt work, you have to move onto the next thing
and put whatever time you spent on the last thing behind you.
Additionally, he unveils plans to launch spatial tours charged
at $200,000 per person on Virgin Galactic Airways. Were
building 5 spaceships and they will be ready to go into space in
two and a half to three years time." During the interview,
the tycoon also discusses his business strategies in India and China,
his childhood schooling experiences, and his personal life.
